The date your period should have started has come and gone. You’re watching, waiting, and wondering. If you think you may be unexpectedly pregnant and don’t know what to do, start with the Pregnancy Resource Center.

How Do I Know If I Am Pregnant?

We’re here to help you answer this very important question. To find out, we recommend a pregnancy test at the Pregnancy Resource Center. Why take our pregnancy test vs. an over-the-counter test?

  • Our pregnancy tests are medical-grade, which means they are more sensitive than many at-home tests.
  • They are free and completely confidential. You have nothing to lose!
  • A licensed nurse will instruct you to get the most accurate results possible. (Often at-home tests can be taken too early or read incorrectly.)

Pregnancy Symptoms

Missed Period

While this is the most common and well-known symptom, it doesn’t always mean you are pregnant. Illness, stress, or recent travel can all impact your body and sometimes lead to a change in your normal cycle. While a missed period doesn’t necessarily mean you are pregnant, you should still proceed with caution in consuming things like alcohol until you can confirm with a pregnancy test.

Sickness or Vomiting

The next common symptom is commonly referred to as “morning sickness.” Even though it has “morning” in the name, pregnant women can experience nausea or vomiting at different times of day, or sometimes just an overall feeling of vague nausea throughout the day. Morning sickness occurs because your body is going through hormonal changes as it prepares for pregnancy.

Food Aversions or Cravings

Another common symptom of pregnancy is food cravings or aversions. You may crave foods you’ve always hated, or hate foods you’ve always loved. Your tastes may change throughout the pregnancy as well.

These are just a few of the most common symptoms, but this list is not exhaustive. If you are experiencing any of these or other pregnancy symptoms, it is important to take a pregnancy test to understand if you’re actually pregnant before doing anything else.
