Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I’m pregnant?
A missed period is generally the first sign of pregnancy.
Other symptoms include:
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Nausea with or without vomiting
- Increased urination
- Fatigue
We can confirm you’re pregnant with a pregnancy test at our center. We provide these for free along with an ultrasound scan to gather important pregnancy details.
How much does an appointment cost?
All of our services are completely free. You never have to worry about paying a bill or any out-of-pocket expenses.
Do I need to have insurance?
Since our services are provided for free, no insurance is necessary.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Sure! If you will feel more comfortable bringing your partner, friend, or relative, you are welcome to bring them with you.
How do I know if I have an STI?
If you’re sexually active and have pain while urinating or having sex, discharge, or an unexplained rash or lesion in the genital area, you could have an STI. However, many common STIs don’t show any signs or symptoms.
The only way to know for sure is through STI testing. We offer this for free at our center.
Will my appointment be confidential?
All appointments and conversations with Pregnancy Resource Center are completely confidential. We will not share any of your private, personal information with anyone.
What is the abortion pill?
The abortion pill (RU-486) or medical abortion, is a way to terminate a pregnancy through prescription drugs. The first of two drugs, mifepristone, will end the pregnancy by blocking the hormone progesterone. The second drug, misoprostol, will cause contractions and bleeding to expel the pregnancy. Read more about abortion.
What steps do I need to take before abortion?
Before seeking an abortion, you should confirm your pregnancy with a pregnancy test and ultrasound. You should also have STI testing done to reduce your risk of spreading the STI further up your reproductive system. We provide all of these pregnancy testing, ultrasound, and STI testing services at the Pregnancy Resource Center in Glenwood Springs and in various locations on our mobile medical unit. The PRC of Glenwood Springs does not perform or refer for abortion.
Where can I find information on all of my options?
We will provide you with information on every option: abortion, adoption, and parenting when you come in for an appointment. We’ll also share information on free resources and support.
